There is a growing body of research that upends what we thought we knew about goal-setting—suggesting that if you are relying on old constructs such as SMART goals, you are limiting yourself to simple, linear progressions (i.e. incremental improvements based on past performance), versus allowing for radical, life-altering shifts. In other words, unless you are setting “Impossible Goals,” you will have denied yourself the opportunity to reach your full potential.
Oh, the SMART goals, the pesky, eye-rolling component of every. single. annual. review. Seemingly the gold standard of achievement - but wow, you are right - so linear and so limiting! I love the Boo story and what a life you gave him!
Ahhhh ... the Mortal Kombat of the Romantics, the Idealists, and the Realists or How to be a Human 101. Thank you, Dee. Nicely done.

Cheers to Dreamers of the impossible! It's way more fun than accepting that this is all there is! Thanks for sharing Diana.
